We believe that all New Yorkers
are entitled access to high quality EMS whether in rural,
suburban or urban settings. We support efforts to improve
the training and professional development of all EMS personnel
and to upgrade the standards for dispatching services, ambulance
staffing, and the level of medical care in order to optimally
treat and stabilize the patients that are encountered in EMS
systems.
New York ACEP believes that the
direct involvement of the Department of Health and their requirement
for qualified medical direction in all phases of out of hospital
care are necessary to ensure the public of quality healthcare
beginning with the EMS providers and continuing through transport
to and treatment in the hospital Emergency Department.
